A REPRISE OF BLOG POSTS FROM ALL OVER THE MAP OF CENTRAL AMERICA

My husband and I have lived in or visited the many wonderful countries of Central America during our "nomadic" life in Latin America.  Our primary living base was Guatemala for a number of fantastic years.  From there it was easy to explore Guatemala's seven Central American neighbors which include Honduras, San Salvador, Nicaragua, Costa Rica, Panama, and Belize. We travelled exclusively by bus while stopping when we were tempted to explore the area.  It was an incredible experience and lifestyle and I loved it all.  In honor of our anniversary living "la vida buena," ("the good life") I am posting the links to my previously published posts for Central America.  You may also visit these wonderful places by opening the following links.  It certainly makes travelling easier than jumping on and off buses.  If you are ready, let's buckle up and go!

BEFORE WE GET TO MY BLOG LINKS, I AM INCLUDING THE FOLLOWING PHOTOGRAPHS WHICH ARE SOME OF MY FAVORITE "ON THE ROAD PHOTOS" FROM OUR TRAVELS IN CENTRAL AMERICA.

WHOEVER SAID THAT TRAVELING WAS EASY? I WALKED ACROSS THIS SCARY SUSPENSION BRIDGE AND LET MY HUSBAND DEAL WITH THE DRIVING.

ONE WAY TO CROSS THE MANGROVES IN GUATEMALA WAS BY THIS MODE OF TRANSPORT.

YOU NEVER KNOW WHEN YOU MIGHT CATCH A MEMORABLE PHOTO THROUGH THE REARVIEW SIDE MIRROR.

AND SOMETIMES YOU EXPERIENCE ROADS THAT HAVE BEEN WASHED OUT AND YOU HAVE TO JUST FOLLOW THE LOCALS.

THE PIG RIDING ON TOP OF THIS TRUCK OBVIOUSLY HAD NO FEAR.

TRAVELING WITH THE LOCALS IN GUATEMALA IS DEFINITELY THE WAY TO  GO.

MEETING AND VISITING WITH OTHER BUS TRAVELERS IS A DEFINITE PERK.

NOW I COULD TAKE A LESSON ON BOAT TRAVEL FROM THIS LOCAL HOMBRE.

WAITING FOR THE BUS IN THE RAIN IS NOT FUN NOR IS THE BLURRY PHOTO.

THE REWARD AFTER ALL THE EFFORT OF GETTING THERE AS SEEN AT MONTERRICO, GUATEMALA .

THE FOLLOWING LINKS WILL TAKE YOU TO MY BLOG POSTS ON CENTRAL AMERICA.  ENJOY!

THE HUIPILS OF GUATEMALA AND MEXICO

I WANT TO TRAVEL NEXT TIME LIKE THE OWNERS OF THIS TRICKED OUT TRUCK WE MET IN GRANADA, NICARAGUA.  THEY WERE DRIVING FROM ALASKA TO THE PATAGONIA REGION AT THE SOUTHERN TIP OF ARGENTINA AND CHILE.  NOW THAT'S A BIG WOW!

  1. Thanks for a great reprise of your multitudinous trips over the years as well as the helpful map to refresh us gringos who haven't dwelt on Central America since primary or secondary school geography lessons. My favorite pictures are of Lago Atitlan in Guatemala and Bocas del Toro in Panama, given the beautiful water scenes! Thanks for the memories, as Bob Hope used to classically say.
